4 Acre model

Following the ‘Four Acre Model’ principal which is to not rely on one source of income:
e.g. 1 for coffee, 1 for matoke, 1 for vegetables or fruits, 1 for animals or a garden.

It’s about diverse farming; goats, chickens, and bees, but also avocados, mangoes, pineapples, maize, matoke, small tomatoes and many more.

Our model follows the principle of feeding your family first and then bringing the rest of your products to the market to sell.

We implemented saving groups and organize regular meetings for sharing ideas, coming together, enjoying and learning from each other. We developed a ‘train the trainer’ concept and aspire to establish ‘lead’ farmers and mentoring programs.

Meet Jackson and his family on his farm

Jackson grows Avocados, Pineapples and Matoke (cooking bananas). Additionally, he cultivates coffee plants as well.

He tends to his goats very successfully and his herd is growing steadily. His chicken population is also growing continuously.

The Jacksons aren‘t just proud of their farm.  Most of all, they are proud of their children, who all go to school and some of them have already graduated.
